 Version(s):V8i
 Area:Installation

Problem

During installing, the following error appears:

Error 1152: Error extracting C:\User\...\AppData\Local\Temp... to the temporary location.

Problem ID#: 70262

Solution

This issue can occur in some rare cases when there is a problem on the operating system that prevents the installation package from being extracted. Here are some possible solutions:

1) Try moving the installation file to your desktop, check if the file size appears to be reasonable (and not indicative of a bad download), then try right clicking on the file and choosing to Run as Admin.

2) Try re-downloading the program, using a different web browser if available. Be sure to save to a safe location such as your desktop. If the same problem occurs, try rebooting the computer and try again. Next, try downloading it on another computer and follow these steps.

3) If this does not help, try navigating to your Windows Temp folder by entering %temp% in the address bar of Windows Explorer / File Explorer. Press enter and you will be taken to the temp folder. Try cleaning out the files in here and check the disk space of the drive that it points to.

If that does not help, try extracting the individual components of the installation and install them manually. The process is different depending on the product:

For StormCAD, SewerCAD, SewerGEMS, CivilStorm, WaterCAD, WaterGEMS and HAMMER V8 XM, V8i and CONNECT Edition

1) On the computer in question (or on another computer, if this does not work on the computer in question), download and install Winrar or 7Zip.

2) Open Winrar or 7Zip then go to File > Open Archive. Or, you may be able to right click on the installation file and choose to pen archive.

3) Browse to the setup executable file and open it - you should see the contents, which includes both the main setup file, along with the prerequisites.

4) Extract the contents to a folder on your hard drive (such as on your desktop).

5) Follow the below order of installation, depending on if your operating system is 32 or 64-bit. To find out, open Control Panel > System. If the operating system is 64-bit it will be mentioned in the first tab.

Note: if the files in your particular product/version do not match what you see below, you can find the proper order of installation in the .INI file located along with the other files inside the .EXE.

Typical Install order for a 32-bit Operating System:

1) dotnetfx35setup.exe

2) vc8redist_x86.EXE

3) vc9redist_x86.EXE

4) AccessDatabaseEngine_2007_x86.exe

5) Setup.msi

For FlowMaster and CulvertMaster

Here are some potential solutions if this error occurs for FlowMaster or CulvertMaster:

1) Clean out your Windows temporary folder

In File Explorer (Windows Explorer), enter "%temp%" in the address bar and press enter. This will navigate to the Windows temp folder. Clean out this folder (especially the "Bentley" subfolder and any recent installation related folders) or contact your IT/Helpdesk for assistance.

2) Ensure that you have administrative rights on your computer during installation, and that you can write to the Windows temp folder.

3) Re-download the setup file and save it to a location on your local hard drive.

4) Try manually extracting and running the individual components from the setup file

a. On another computer, run the installation file and wait for it to extract the contents and reach the first step. Do not advance forward in the steps or close the installation.

b. Navigate to the Windows temp folder by opening Windows Explorer / File Explorer, then enter %temp% in the address bar and press enter. This will take you to the Windows temporary folder.

c. Sort the files by modified date and locate the most recently modified folders, corresponding with the time you ran the installation. Open the folders and copy the prerequisite files to a different folder on your desktop.

d. Install the files in order per the INI file that you will find. A typical order would be:

 1) dotnetfx.exe
 2) vcredist.msi
 3) msxml6.msi
 4) Bentley FlowMaster V8i (SELECTseries 1) 08.##.##.##.msi

5) If the above does not help, contact Technical Support for a special version of the installation file that may help avoid this problem.
