What is the difference between the "Depth vs Flow" pump defintion and the "Depth Flow (Simulated Variable Speed)" pump definition?
Note that these two pump definition types are only available with the Implicit and Explicit numerical solvers, and are therefore only available in SewerGEMS and CivilStorm.[Problem # 70353]
The only difference is the depth vs. flow is meant to be used to simulate an inline pump where the flow increases incrementally (a step-wise function) whereas, the depth flow (VSP simulated) type is used to model a variable speed inline pump where the flow varies continuously (a smooth curve).
If you are trying to simulate a Variable Speed Pump (VSP) it is recommended that you use the depth flow (VSP simulated) type.

How are pumps handled in each Haestad product?
Which Pump Definition Types can be used by the GVF-Convex, Implicit and Explicit solvers?
