Problem
Is it possible to automatically create Named Viewed based on defined areas such as pressure districts stored in a table of sequenced points?
Solution
- If you have a polygon DXF or Shapefile, skip to step 2. If you have a table of sequenced points, use an external application to convert the points/database into a polygon Shapefile. You may find a free application on the internet that can convert from CSV to SHP.
- Import the Shapefile in ModelBuilder (Tools > Modelbuilder) using "ESRI shapefiles" as the source file type.
- For WaterCAD, WaterGEMS or HAMMER: use "Pump Station" as the element type in the field mapping step (because it is a polygon feature), and mapping the label (or some other column that stores the pressure zone or other label) to the label field.
- For SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, StormCAD or CivilStorm: use "Low Impact Development" (or Catchment if you don't have any in the model already) as the element type in the field mapping step (because it is a polygon feature), and mapping the label (or some other column that stores the pressure zone or other label) to the label field.
- Open the pump station flextable, right click on each row header, choose Zoom To, then create the named View (View > Named Views > New)
- Repeat step 3 for each row in the table.
