Rise and Depth/Rise do not appear correct for a channel

Problem

The calculated Depth/Rise property in a Channel link element does not appear to be correct when compared to a profile view at the same timestep.

For example the channel may appear to be 75% full in profile view bu the Depth/Rise property may show something less such as 55%.

Solution

This may be due to an assumption currently made (as of the version shown above) regarding the upstream cross section. Currently it is assumed that the Cross section's Irregular Channel Section has a minimum relative elevation of zero. That is, the lowest depth is zero and the highest depth in the table represents the physical "rise" of the channel.

However, this may not always be the case. If the lowest "Elevation (Relative)" value in the Irregular Channel Section table is greater than zero, then the highest relative depth in the table does not actually represent the rise.

In these cases, a workaround is as follows:

1) Open the upstream Cross section's Irregular Channel Section table

2) Right click on the column header for "Elevation (Relative)" and choose Global Edit

3) Choose subtract as the operation and set the value equal to the lowest relative elevation.

4) Click OK. Now you'll have exactly the same cross section (since the elevations are relative) but that has a bottom of zero, so the Rise (Unified) and Depth/Rise properties will be accurate.
