FlowMaster fails to open or is not able to generate a rating table

Problem

One of the following symptoms occur:

1) When attempting to open FlowMaster, it starts opening (and displays the intro "splash" screen), but then goes away and the main user interface never opens.

2) FlowMaster hangs when attempting to generate a rating table or rating curve and the "calculating" progress never completes.

Solution

First, make sure that the license has been activated. Open the License Management Tool and go to Tools > Options. Click "Test Connection" to confirm the license is valid. If so, go to Tools > Send Logs Now, which will send the licensing information to the license server. Try sending logs a few times.

If that doesn't help, please try upgrading to the latest version of FlowMaster using the steps here: Downloading OpenFlows / Hydraulics and Hydrology software. If you can't upgrade, contact Bentley Technical Support for the latest patch for FlowMaster version 10.00.00.02.

If this doesn't help, try the following steps:

Check if the License Management Tool is able to open, and that you can verify your license. Next, check if the file named msvcr71.dll is missing on your computer. This is an operating system component that FlowMaster relies on for some operations. In at least one case, the issue in question was due to this file being missing.

Try performing a search on your computer for all instances of this file, then compare the folder locations of any instances, to the folder locations included in the system PATH environment variable:

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables > System Variables > Path

In most cases, this file should be located in C:\Windows\System32\

If this file is missing, please try the following. Note that this was only tested with FlowMaster CONNECT Edition 10.00.00.02 and may not work with other versions.

1) Ensure FlowMaster is closed

2) Navigate to the FlowMaster installation folder and back up (or rename) the file Haestad.Support.DLL

3) Download the following file and save it to the FlowMaster installation folder, choosing to replace the existing file (unless you had renamed it):

FixforFlowMasterCESplashScreenandRatingTableIssue.zip

4) Reopen FlowMaster
