Computing model saved in version 10.02.02.XX or 10.02.03.XX results in "Failed to validate model."

Product(s): WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, HAMMER
Version(s): 10.02.XX.XX
Area: Other

Problem

When attempting to compute a model in version 10.02.00.43 or 10.02.01.06  the following error occurs. The model being opened was last saved in newer version 10.02.02.06 or 10.02.03.06.

"Failed to validate model. The model may be corrupt or contain incomplete information."

Solution

In general, models saved in all 10.02.XX.XX versions should be compatible with one another (as confirmed in the respective "What's new in..." article), so a model saved in version 10.02.02.06 or 10.02.03.06 should be able to be opened and run in version 10.02.00.XX, 10.02.01.XX and 10.02.02.XX.

However, a known issue (reference # 1069504) may cause the issue above. In this case, compare your software version with the version that the model was last saved in, to confirm if you have encountered this situation:

Software version number: go to File > Help > About. The version is shown in the lower-left corner, in brackets.

Model version number: open the .WTG in a text editor and note the "VersionLastModified=". See: How to find the version a model was created in and last saved in

If the model is found to be saved in 10.02.02.06 or 10.02.03.06 and you are using an earlier 10.02.XX.XX version, you will need to upgrade to version 10.02.03.06 (or later) in order to open it. See: Downloading OpenFlows Software
