Image background file causes application to crash without an error message

Product(s): WaterGEMS, WaterCAD
Version(s): 10.XX.XX.XX and higher
Area: Modeling

Problem

When an image file is added to a new or existing model as a background, the product crashes without an error message and work is lost.

Solution

In an existing model, with the model closed use File Explorer to browse to where the model is saved. Find the .wtg.dwh and delete it. Open the model and you should be able to right-click on the image background layer to edit it. In Properties dialog, uncheck the box for "Use Compression" before adding the background file. This should resolve the issue. You can also try moving the .wtg and .wtg.sqlite files to a new folder before editing the background file.

This issue will be resolved in a future release of the product. The reference number for this is 300459.

If the image file is a screenshot of an aerial photograph near the network you are modeling, the best solution would be to use the Bing Maps feature instead.
