Background

What are typical use cases for the Text, Line, and Border feature in the Layout toolbar?

Solution

These features can be used to for additional annotations or to call out elements of the model where element symbology cannot. The Text option allows the user to include text or annotations related to the model as a whole, rather than individual elements. The Border option can be used to emphasize a given part of the model, like an important pump station. The Line option can be used as a leader line toward important elements or text.

Text are added by clicking in the drawing where you want to include text. You can be scaled or rotated by right-click on the element. Once you do that, simply move the mouse to made the adjustments.

Lines are added similar to pipe elements. As you click, bends can be added to the line. In addition, if you right-click on the line, you can add bends. It is important to note that there will be no model data or results associated with these.

Borders are added by simply clicking and drawing the border. This will be a rectangular shape. The size of the border can be changed by highlighting it and grabbing the corner of the border.

Addition features and improvements to these may be included in future releases of the products. The reference number for this is 420850.
