How to apply Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH) 2013 storm data to the storm-sewer products

Details

An update to the Flood Estimation Handbook--FEH (2013)--has been is now available in the Storm Events manager as of the CONNECT Edition Update 3 release of storm and sewer products. The FEH retains the FSR rainfall profile and Areal Reduction Factor considerations utilized in the calculation of runof frates according to the FEH of rainfall runoff methods.

The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology provides XML (.xml) files through their FEH Web Service. FEH 2013 files contain either point or catchment descriptors. To use this in the application, import one of these files to load the file contents as a reviewable data series. The depth is calculated from the file details, and then converted to intensity-based rainfall series.

The FEH analysis considers durations of 5 minutes to 10 days and return periods from 1.3 to 100,000 years. However, storm durations of less than 30 minutes and return periods less then 2 years are not advisable with FEH 2013 rainfall data.
