How to create a Selection Set

      Applies To

Product(s): Bentley WaterGEMS, Bentley WaterCAD, Bentley HAMMER, Bentley SewerGEMS, Bentley SewerCAD, Bentley StormCAD, Bentley CivilStorm, Bentley PondPack
      Version(s): 08.11.xx.xx
      Environment:  N/A
      Area:  Modeling
      Subarea:
Original Author: Akshaya Niraula, Bentley Technical Support Group

Steps below will guide to Create a Selection Set

    Steps to Accomplish

    1) Select the desired elements. It can be selected as shown below or by creating a windw (by clicking and draging).
    2) After selecting, right click > Create Selection Set.
    3) Give a name when prompted.

    *  You can also add/remove elements from a selection set. Select the desired element, right click then pick either Add to Selection Set or Remove from Selection Set then pick the selection set in which you want the elements to be modified.

    Option 2

    1) Create a query (View > Queries)

    2) For instance, you may want to only view the pipes with a diameter of 250 mm. If such a case, you would search the Fields table on the left for "Diameter". Double-click this and it will appear in the section at the bottom of the Query Builder dialog. Next, select the operator, such as "=". Next, click the Unique Values button in the upper right and then double-click the value you want to filter by. When you are done, the Query Builder dialog will look similar to the screenshot below:

NOTE: If you want to filter by more than one item, you can select the "AND" operator from the middle of the dialog and then go through the process above once more.

    3) One the query is created you can enable the selection set by double clicking on the query name and then right clicking in the drawing pane and choosing "Create Selection Set".
