Problem Description

Will Darwin Scheduler calculate the peak energy demand charge when the lowest cost energy option is selected for optimizing pumps?

Reason

Darwin Scheduler does not currently have the ability to calculate the peak energy demand charge when calculating the fitness for the lowest cost option for pump optimization. This feature is, however, being considered in future plans of Darwin Scheduler's fitness calculation.

Workaround

Option 1 - Add a pipe velocity constraint on the pump station outlet pipe

By adding a pipe velocity constraint on the pump station outlet pipe if Scheduler tries to run too many pumps at one time, at too high a flow rate, the velocity constraint will add a penalty cost. If you try this option make sure you add a larger penalty cost for the velocity accordingly. Using this approach the fitness for solutions with a high velocity at the pump station outlet pipe will be reduced.
