What is it?

iTwin Capture Modeler is the integration of ContextCapture capabilities within iTwin Capture family of products. iTwin Capture Modeler is the desktop application that allows you to create engineering-ready reality data—such as reality meshes, classified point clouds, anonymized images, and orthophotos of any size and resolution—using any digital camera, scanner, or mobile mapping device. Use an advanced set of features, such as masks, water constraints, or advanced retouching capabilities to enhance your reality data.

For who?

Any infrastructure practitioners who needs to create reality data as well as extract insights to feed in a digital twin with real-world conditions will benefit of iTwin Capture Modeler capabilities. In more details, surveyor, mapper, drone pilot or photogrammetrist used to operate photogrammetry software and laser scanning will find in Itwin Capture Modeler all the capabilities to create engineering-ready reality data from acquired photographs of point clouds

As well as the legacy software ContextCapture iTwin Capture Modeler is available in two versions:

iTwin Capture Modeler is the photogrammetry desktop solution dedicated for small to mid-size projects. You can connect up to two iTwin Capture Modeler running on two different computers to execute parallelized processing and reduce your processing time*. (*each iTwinCapture Modeler claims his own license to work)

iTwin Capture Modeler Center is dedicated to create a digital replica of heavy and complex infrastructure or city scale projects from thousands of images and or billions points of point clouds. This version allows you to scale up your processing capabilities based on your dedicated IT infrastructure to handle massive volume of input data*. ( *each iTwin Capture Modeler Center Master and Engine claims his own license to work)

What's new?

To facilitate the access of the different components for reality data creation, management and sharing. Bentley is consolidating ContextCapture and Orbit software capabilities in a new brand named iTwin Capture. Within this initiative ContextCapture desktop application is renamed iTwin Capture Modeler and offered in new commercial packages with named user subscriptions adding to the desktop reality data creation capabilities, cloud functionalities for reality data processing, management and delivery. The capabilities of iTwin Capture Modeler are now centered on reality data creation, the complementary module ContextCapture Editor is now deprecated and no more given with an iTwin Capture Modeler license*

iTwin Capture Modeler is a new product based on legacy ContexCapture its main mission is still to create 3D reality meshes from photographs and pointcloud.

What’s new in iTwinCapture Modeler?

iTwin Capture Modeler comes with a better integration to Bentley cloud service to streamline workflows to create and share reality data within an iTwin ecosystem.

ContextCapture editor doesn’t come anymore with iTwin Capture Modeler The Key Reality Capture functionalities brought by CC editor are migrated into iTwin Capture Modeler like the ground extraction feature or tackled by additional components bundled into the different level of subscription.

Will ContextCapture still continue to exist as a product?

iTwin Capture Modeler is coming as a new version of ContextCapture, users entitled to updates will directly benefit from iTwin Capture Modeler

Am I obliged to update to iTwinCapture Modeler?

There is no obligation to update but you won’t benefit for software enhancements and new features.

I have licenses of ContextCapture how do I update to iTwin Capture Modeler?

The product update is coming as a usual update, you'll be invited through the CONNECTION Client to update to a newer version of your software

What happens to my current CC editor license if I migrate to iTwin Capture Modeler?

CC Editor is now deprecated and will be retired according to Bentley fixed lifecycle support policy.

Can I still use my actual license of CC Editor if I update to iTwin Capture Modeler?

If you don’t have any valid license of iTwin Capture Modeler you are still able to use CC Editor.

I was using ContextCapture and ContextCapture editor for dedicated workflows, how can I do now with iTwinCapture modeler?

Some key Reality data enhancement functionalities are progressively brought into iTwin Capture Modeler like terrain extraction and orthoimage creation.
