Issue Resolution Module

Overview

The Issue Resolution module is useful for creating and managing issues (i.e., work orders) in an asset. You can create and prioritize issues, assign issues to respective team members, and schedule resolution due dates for an issue. Issues created in the Issue Resolution Module are displayed in the Digital Twin viewer as flags.

Navigation and Issue Resolution Main Page

To navigate to the Issue Resolution Module, click on the flag icon in the lower left of the Modules navigation bar.

The Issue Resolution page displays data and stats about all existing issues in a Dashboard format. The graphs in the dashboard are useful for tracking the progress of issues.

IoT Issues

While you can create a new issue manually, as shown below, and fill out form fields, we recommend creating issues from alerts so that all those fields are filled out automatically.

IoT sensors can be configured to send alerts when their observations exceed a set threshold level or if they have been offline for a user-designate period of time. There are three types of alerts – Status Alert, Data Alert, and Correlation Alert. When an alert is triggered, you have the opportunity to create an issue for it. Each type of alert creates a different type of issue and prepopulates all necessary details into the fields automatically. To learn more about Alerts, see the Alerts Overview Article.

Fields such as sensor details and trigger details are automatically filled by fetching the data from the alert. After an issue is created, you can rename the issue, assign it to a team member, set its priority, and set a due date.

The types of issues that can be created by the three types of alerts are described in the sub-sections below.

IoT Status Alert Issue

Status Alert is useful to monitor the pulse of sensors. The alert is triggered when the sensor goes offline longer than the set time limit. When the alert is raised, you can click on the Create Issue button in the alert to create IoT Status Alert Issue. An example is shown below.

IoT Data Alert Issue

Data Alert is useful to monitor observations of one or more sensors relative to a quantitative threshold level. The alert is raised when the observation value of the monitored sensor crosses the threshold level. When the alert is raised, you can click on the Create Issue button in the alert to create IoT Data Alert Issue. An example is shown below.

IoT Correlation Alert Issue

Correlation Alert is useful to monitor a pair of sensors in terms of deviation from expected formulaic relationships between their observations. Threshold level alerts can be defined to identify deviation from the formula between observations of the two sensors. When the alert is raised, you can click on the Create Issue button in the alert to create IoT Correlation Alert Issue. An example is shown below.
