Have you ever clicked on the shortcut to run the SELECTserver Administration Site only to see it run the Windows Installer? During this process you may eventually receive a message stating "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'SELECTserver.MSI' in the box below. In some cases the installer will continue to run but may eventually fail with this message "Failed while processing Webvirtualdirs"? If so you are experiencing a Windows "permission" issue.
When clicking the shortcut, the installer will verify that all the components are installed before launching the program. It will revisit these folders and verify the user account that was used to install the product. If the user account profile that is launching the program does not match with the account who initially installed SELECTserver, you may see these error messages. That account may not have the appropriate permissions to those folders and also may not have access to the installer file. A quick solution is to manually enter the Bentley SELECTserver Administrative Site in the Internet Explorer address bar to access the site. You can now add the address to the "Favorites" section of your browser and recreate the shortcut.
