Connection Client Proxy

I have users at our site including myself that every once in a while (more often for others) will receive the dialog from the Connection Client - Proxy server requires authentication:

The issue I have is that if I cancel the dialog and check the Connection Client dialog, it has no issues actually signing in.  As for actual proxy management, our IT department uses a PAC file set within the Internet Options settings:  proxy.delaware.gov/proxy.pac

We have never set the proxy settings within the Bentley Licensing Management Tools (LMT) in the past and I'm hoping that we never have to due to possible credential issues in the future.  These settings seem to happen automatically right now which seems like the best way that this should work...I do not want my users to manually enter this data into the LMT since this could cause account lockouts in the future when the user needs to change their Domain account password.

Is there possibly a way in the future to suppress this dialog from showing?

  • Hello Sean,

There's no way to suppress the dialog. However, you can configure the proxy settings for the LMT using group policy. Here's a former discussion on that topic: communities.bentley.com/.../91023

  • Thank you Tamicca.

I'll mark this topic as answered based on this comment.

As for the GPO, this doesn't really fix the problem since the account information for the proxy would still need to be entered:

The only option I have from here since this would be set for all users would be for our IT group to create a "Service Account" where the password wouldn't change that had access to the proxy and set this section up for that.  Who knows...maybe they'll allow that...maybe not.

Is there a way that I can have a CR created for either one of these two options:

    1.  Set a new option to allow the use of the active user credentials that is logged onto the machine
    2. Create a way to suppress the dialog asking for proxy information.  I would imagine that this dialog comes up since there is a hiccup with the client with its proxy information...instead of immediately sending the dialog to a user which could potentially coerce a user to manually set it, just have the connection timeout.

As for the first option, something like such which when selected, would deactivate the Proxy User Name and Proxy Password lines:

  • Hello Tamicca,

Here I have the same problem from time to time: when iniciating (automatically) Connection Client, it doesn't connect automatically sometimes. The dialog "Proxy Server requires authentication" apears, and after doing what it is said in the message, the following error message is received:

(Translation: "License Administrator: Error while trying to identify server and activation key".)

Is there anything I could do to avoid this problem to happen time and again?

    Thank you in advance
