What is the plan for he CONNECT License Adapter and older versions of MicroStation? Will the CONNECT License Adapter function with non-CONNECT versions of MicroStation and other Bentley products? If so, how far back will the support go? Will it only be for SS releases that come delivered with CONNECTION Client? Will it be compatible with any XM (8.9) version application and later? What about pre-XM versions that require a SELECTserver Gateway? Thanks.

Hi, I am using the Connect License Adapter with Microstation V8i SS3. I started using it during the Beta phase. At that point, it only worked with specific versions of products. I still have a copy of Microstation J (7.2), and the adapter does not appear to work with it. --Robert

Hi,

The Connect License Adapter allows some of the Bentley products to use the Connection Client to access the shared licenses. One of the advantages is that it can potentially send a warning when you are about to exceed the allowed number of licenses for your firm. From what I understand, the Licensing Adapter product is "released", but it being offered to companies on a case by case basis at the moment. I think that they are being cautious as they migrate from one license server to another, which is a very good thing.
