Dear Support,
Good Day !!
We are Bentley Connect Subscriber, and we have around 7 licenses for bentley products which includes as;1-ConceptStation1-ContextCapture5-OpenRoads Designer (We can also use 4-PowerCivil, and 1-MXRoads as OpenRoads designer is acting as an umbrella license)
My question is we have multiple installation in our organization, as of our requirement, and we know the limitation, but we want to know how to control the overuse which can anytime happen mistakenly. ?
My second question is as i mentioned above we have 4 powercivil licenses, and 1 mxroad license, against them we got 5 openroads licenses, instead of using 5 openroads can we use multiple mx roads or all 5 powercivil ?
Looking forward for your prompt response.
Thanks
Hello Muzaffar,For the control of overuse please use License Alerting or use Entitlement Restrictions of application usage. Please see wiki below: https://communities.bentley.com/products/licensing/w/licensing__wiki/40274/how-to-restrict-access-to-specific-products-under-connect-licensingFor the second question, please contact product team, on the communities forum or raise a Service Request.Regards,Miglius
Hi Miglius,
Thank you for your reply.
That way i can restrict the number of users for the product, but what about the senario where a same user can login into connection client in multiple machines ?
Can same user login in multiple connection clients at a time ?
Thanks & Regards,

Hi,
With the License Alerting, a single user may log into multiple computers. So there is no restriction with the number of machine that are logged in. The number of application licenses are based upon machine. This means:1) I can have multiple sessions of an application (like Microstation) open on one computer and it counts as one license seat.2) I can be logged into two computers with the same user, but if I have Microstation open on both computers, it will count as two license seats.
Once I reach my threshold number of license seats and another computer tries to open that application, a dialog box comes up and warns them that continuing to open that program will result in an overage.

Hi Robert,
I tried this but i didnt checked the results yet .
i made two groups for two different categories of applications and assigned threshold but i am unable to see the second category when i go to Alerting section. I just want to know that the Alerting can only work for one group ? Like i made one group for openroads and assigned users to the group and configured alerting for it, and i made one group for mxroads and assigned users to the group, but when i go to alerting option i can not see the details for mxroads group.
please correct me if i configured or the logic i used is incorrect ?
thank you

License alerting is configured for each product. It is not configured for individual entitlement groups. To view any license alert settings configured for products, select License Alerting (All Applications) from the menu icon in the upper left. Locate the Exceptions list at the bottom, and note the value in the Threshold Set column for products such as OpenRoads and MXROADS. The license alerts will apply to all users regardless of the entitlement group assigned.
