Today, I can created detailed reporting in SelectServer that shows the names of users, and exactly how much time they have used each application. I can even schedule these reports to be delivered to me, although that functionality has been broken for the past few months. This is very helpful for me to charge back departments internally.
Open Access reporting is not exportable and reports cannot be scheduled (that I've discovered anyway).
I'm concerned about losing this level of detail with the move to Connect Licensing. Are there any plans to improve Open Access reporting to support exports and scheduling?
More info: Even when I export data from SelectServer, it takes considerable Excel work to manipulate, convert into total minutes and remove unwanted headers, etc. How about building some stock reports with internal chargebacks in mind?
I agree with Dwayne that access to detail product usage, including ability to save, is crucial and mandatory for efficient license management.
Because I think that no standardized log can fit all needs and requirements, I'd like to extend Dwayne's question to whether there is (or is planned) e.g. REST access to reporting / log system. It's a standard feature of many servers today and it allows automation and further analysis of usage data.
With regards,
Jan
