Perpetual AutoPIPE license and Connection Client

Hi,

We are a small company with a single license of AutoPIPE.

We own a single perpetual license of AutoPIPE standard

Now we have to log on to Bentley Connection Client to be able to access AutoPIPE.

But what if in the future we would like to no longer be a Bentley maintenance customer, but would still like to be able to use our Perpetual license ?

How do we return to a conventional license for AutoPIPE on a single PC like we originally purchased ?

Thank you for your help

Fergus

  • Hello Fergus,

For working with the products offline, you can reserve or check out a license for AutoPIPE for your single PC. Please see wiki with the step by step instructions on how to check out a license from Entitlement Management, you can find it in the link below:

    Thank you,

  • Hi Miglius,

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I think you've misunderstood my question. But our helpful local Bentley agent was able to answer this for me.

I now understand that if we give three months notice before the end of our Select maintenance subscription period, the CONNECT license will be converted back to a local PC based node locked license. So we get to keep our perpetual license (which is a relief). But unfortunately this would also terminate our maintenance subscription and access to updates (which of course we don't want to do).

At the moment it seems we can't get exactly what we want which is a locally deployed single user license but still maintaining support and updates (and I'd guess most SMEs would prefer this). Ideally we'd like a conventional single license on our sever which floats to different PCs, and with check-out feature for working out of the office (like the other engineering software we use).

Hopefully in the future Bentley may offer traditional local PC licenses with maintenance subscription again ?

We can definitely see the benefits of the CONNECT licensing for large organisations. But unfortunately doesn't really seem to be a good fit for our company.

    Best Regards

    Fergus
