When do we need to switch all SS4 to SS10?

I am at a new company, and trying to wrap my head around the SelectServer vs. Connection Client timeline.

We are currently using SS4 (MicroStation/Geopak/InRoads). Our major client will be transitioning to OpenRoads in probably Q2 next year. I know that we will need to be using CC by that time, but I am still unsure if we will be able to use SS until (and probably past then - old jobs, y'know).

Can someone please tell me the drop-dead date that we need to have our licensing switched over. Not the table - I've seen the table and I need a more in-depth explanation than that. I am going to need as much verifiable information as possible to take to my superiors and account manager if there are any changes that need to be made.

Thank you.

  • I believe there is no date... It depends more on the software version(s) you will be using. SS4 is the last version that will NOT REQUIRE Connection Client. However, SS4 is NOT CERTIFIED for Windows 10 (if that's important to you). It works, but you will not receive ANY Bentley support after the date that's listed in the table you mention. Licensing of SS4 if you are using a Bentley SelectServer may be the bigger issue - they may not have the SelectServer after the date in the table, which means even though the software will work, you cannot get a valid license to use it. If you are running your own SelectServer, you may not have that issue.....
