Bentley.
We are informed that in June 2020 any V8i licenses will become node locked and in December 2020 support will stop.
For users that have not updated to CONNECT or want to run V8i and CONNECT in parallel, due to many reasons ie bugs that prevent a user from upgrading etc.......can you ....tell us......
How the V8i licenses will be managed from June 2020?
What tools we will have to distribute the licenses?
What limitation will be enforced for V8i?
Thank you
Ian
I thought SelectServer wasn't going offline until December - have I been mistaken?

OK maybe I have gone mad... working from home.
I was almost convinced I had heard that the V8i licenses will go into node lock in June. An Account manager in the UK has said he is not aware of this. So I guess its official ... I am mad.
It will license the same way it does now until January 1, 2021. Thanks
So to confirm... you are saying that ANY V8i version will now run until December 31st 2020, licenses will work etc
The question still stands... what happens after 31st December 2020....?. how will we license V8i
Cheers
Yes, the older applications will work until the end of the year. As the link I provided states, after January 1 2021, applications that do not use Subscription Entitlement Service licensing (SES) will lose the pooling option and be node-locked. There is an FAQ in that link that answers this. More information will be available in the next couple of months on the process.
Thanks

What applications use SES and how do we know if we are using this or not?
There are three ways.
1) There is a list that is posted here: https://communities.bentley.com/products/licensing/w/licensing__wiki/40113/products-using-subscription-entitlement-service
2) It is possible there is a delay in updating it so you can always go to the Fulfillment center and look up your applications. It will indicate before you download if they are SES.
3) If you are running an application and were not prompted to sign in, then it is not an SES application.
