What happen if I sing in an account on two different computers?

Hi. So, I have a licence that I use on work and when I'm home. Aways I disconnect the account before use in another computer. I want to know In case I forget to sign out and try to sing on another computer, will I have some kind of extra charge?

  • Hi Luis,

    So, I have a licence

The license for what product and of what version? And what type of license do you use? SES?

Aways I disconnect the account before use in another computer.

What do you mean by "disconnect the account"?

I want to know In case I forget to sign out and try to sing on another computer, will I have some kind of extra charge?

If you mean CONNECTION client providing SES licensing (Subscription Entitlement Service), used to license MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 10) and MicroStation CONNECT Edition (plus other products of these versions), it's not important whether you sign off from the client (logout) or not. The client itself does not consume any commercial license (it uses own free license). It's only unified communication bridge between desktop products and Bentley licensing servers.

What is important whether a desktop application (like MicroStation) is running or not. So it's important to close the application.

SES licensing provides some settings that can help to ensure more licenses will be not used: you can switch on license alerting and also to require only on-line usage.  See the licensing wiki for more details.

BTW In folder where CONNECTION client is installed (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bentley Shared\CONNECTION Client\), several tools to monitor and analyze license are available.

I aways do logout before leaving the office.

Thank you! I just was worried about some levy if i log in an account without do logout on computer that i was using before.

I have no experience with SewerGEMS, but I assume this version used the same licensing as MicroStation CE.

I recommend to read the wiki and to play a bit both with SES web GUI (to check how licenses are configured and what is reported) and also with the tools available in CONNECTION client folder.

It should provide some extra insight how the license usage is recorded and calculated.
