My understanding is that Bentley are stopping support for MicroStation SS4 at the end of the year. Is that still correct?
Also I have seen somewhere that if we use CE and SS4 at the same time (after support fro SS$ has stopped) this will count as two licence usages. Again, is this correct?
As others have said, starting January 1 any SS4 (and earlier) license will have to be node-locked.
From what I have been told at your next Bentley contract renewal after January 1, you will be charged extra for any node-locked licenses you are still using.

WHAT...?
Haven't we already paid for the software (and the license to run it)? Why are we getting charged again for software already purchased?

I logged and ST about this and received the following regarding fees:
But the FAQ noted that:
What is a “machine-based license”?Pooled licenses provide the ability to cover a number of machines that are concurrently in use. The machine-based license environment eliminates license pooling, shifting to a single license that is specifcally assigned to one designated machine. Unless applications are upgraded to versions with SES, administrators will need to register their desired machines to ensure they are covered by a machine-based license.
So we can run a SES version and a node locked version at the same time with no additional costs but what it doesn't say is whether running CE and SS10 at the same time is one licence usage or two.
Why does it have to be so confusing"!!
Exactly! It’s bad enough to have to have to migrate and worry about licensing issues.

Glenn cc edition is a big change. It’s more then just the time consuming ribbon. I avoid ribbons in any software when possible. It means memorizing shortcuts or navigating through the ribbon or customizing again. The change from the project based format to workspace is a bit confusing. I like having access to all menus in one menu like the old menu bar. Having to switch to the file menu to get to settings is annoying. Microstation used to brag about less mouse clicks compared to Autocad. Now that’s not the case. I get the feeling Microstation is trying to mimic Autocad.
With so many changes I think Bentley should provide more videos that are FREE to long time users.
Hello,
Is the document you and MaryB referring to the "SELECTserver Deprecation" or something else? If it is something different could you please share it?
Thank you and take care,

Perhaps I'm being cynical but this statement from the wiki noted above is just allows Bentley to keep on claiming over usages and sending out invoices:
Just as with SELECTserver activation keys, Bentley remains committed to allowing on-demand access to applications regardless of the available entitlements when using SES.
Also whats a Term license, as noted in the same wiki?
Very frustrating for long time Bentley clients
I can have Autodesk Inventor up and running ( not being used) at the office and running on my home edition and being used and not get any bills. I can also have two versions of the Inventor on my pc both opened and not get billed.
