How is it possible with Microstation Connect Edition to check out a license for all users of a machine. The old way, described here https://communities.bentley.com/products/licensing/f/licensing-and-activation-forum/148622/activation-for-multiple-users-on-one-machine, is not working anymore.
Thank you.
(Additional Info: we are a school environment)
Hi,
With the Subscription Entitlement Service (SES) licensing, each checkout is per a single user. I am not sure why you need to check-out a license, so knowing that might help with a better solution. The standard way to do this with SES would be to install the CONNECITON Client (CC) on the machine and then register each user. Then each user could sign in to the CC to activate the product they need to use and record the usage for that user.
Thanks,
Glenn
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I'm not very expierienced in the licensing area, so maybe I'm using the wrong words or I might have misconceptions about how it should work. We are a quite small school and until now we had the following Situation: Microstation is installed on the lab PCs and activated for all users. Every student logs in with his/her Windows-Account and just starts working - no registration, no internet etc. needed.
Situation/Problem now:
Thank you in advance!
I think you have detailed your issue pretty clearly. I understand that this is a different process than we offered before but it is how things are moving across all types of technology companies.
Yes - every student will need to register. You can do this in a bulk process to make it quicker, and once completed they don't need to do it again. As a school I am not sure what requirements you have for tracking usage but if you do have some, this will make it easier to see who is doing what.
Once someone signs in, there is a policy file that is updated and valid for 7 days. Therefore, as long as the exam is within 7 days of the last sign in they will be able to use MicroStation without an internet connection.
I hope this helps provide some guidance.
Thank you for your reply.
