bentley.lictransmit.exe causing 60 second hang/pause when opening v8i SSE1up1

I have a single workstation (all others work fine) that pauses for ~60 seconds when opening Microstation v8i SSE3 update1. I can see in task manager that bentley.lictransmit.exe is running or causing the issue. We are on a SelectSever Hosted program and this is the first time I've seen this issue. I've tried an uninstall/reinstall without success. Any ideas?

  • Hi,

This is a known bug (TR Number: 344799)

Here is the workaround : Rename the license.db and get a copy of it be submitted along with the site id and activation key for the site.

    Mathieu

  • I have started to have this problem also.

It seems to be effecting the distributed render process, When I start a render process the bentley.lictransmit.exe process starts in my task manager and stits there using 25% of my cpu but not finishing. This seems to hold up the rendering process and no frames are rendered, I assume microsation is checking the licence avaliable for the render which then waits for a reply but as it doesn't get a reply it doesn't start rendering.

When I start Microstation it takes a very long time to load up due to the bentley lictransmit process [I have found if I just cancel the process microstation begins soon after - although I'm not sure how much of a good idea it is to just end the lictransmit task]

I don't really understand your workaround, could to expand on the steps to be taken to resolve this problem?

  • The TR that Mathieu is referring to is related to the size of the license.db file. Can you locate the license.db file, once you have found it review the properties and reply to this thread with the size of the file?

  • Afternoon Sunil [at least it's afternoon for me :)]

    I found a license.db file, modified 30/04/2013 12:10, 40,458 KB. Is that too large/ small?

    Regards,

    Myles.

I had a search and found the thread which was related to the license.db file size and it said that his file size was changing size - big to small to big again etc - On our server it stores 'backup' versions of our files. I have a backed up version as old as 2 months which is a similar size [sround 39mb] so in 2 months [approx] the file size has gone up by 1 mb, I don't know if this has any bearing on the issue?

    Regards,

    Myles.
