bentley.lictransmit.exe causing 60 second hang/pause when opening v8i SSE1up1

I have a single workstation (all others work fine) that pauses for ~60 seconds when opening Microstation v8i SSE3 update1. I can see in task manager that bentley.lictransmit.exe is running or causing the issue. We are on a SelectSever Hosted program and this is the first time I've seen this issue. I've tried an uninstall/reinstall without success. Any ideas?

  • Mathieu is correct, until this is fixed and in a build of MicroStation open the License management tool and select Tools -> Send Logs now. Then delete license.db from C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Licensing\license.db

  • I seem to be having problems sending my logs, I open microstation and go to utilities - License manager - go to the 'tools' tab and send logs. I get a Dialog box up saying it is sending logs with a graphic of a bar sliding from left to right. It does this for a VERY long time and never appears to finish [I have left it running for over an hour] before I get tired and close it down.

This leads me to think somewhere along the line I am having trouble communicating with the bentley server. I'm not sure of where abouts the trouble is comming from...

  • I had another go at sending the logs this morning, I left it and got on with something else [not using the computer at all] came back 1/2 hr later it had appeared to send the logs. I removed the license from the c:\AppData\Local\Bentley folder [I moved it to the desktop to keep it just in case]. I restarted my computer, and microstation started up alot quicker, I have a new License.db file in the AppData path which is 16KB [Big difference from 40MB]

I have even started a Distributed render [in a group which only I belong to] and this has worked ok too. So I guess the slow down was due to a "corrupt" license file.

Any ideas how the license file gets into this state - how does it get so large etc, perhaps some pointers for me so I can avoid this happening in the future?

    Regards,

    Myles.

  • Hi Myles,

This is not necessarily a corrupt license.db and 40MB could be normal, although that is a bit large. The problem is because of the performance issue that the TR mentioned below is addressing. The issue is that the license tool can’t empty the usages information from the license.db fast enough causing it to grow. This can have an impact on performance. This problem can be attributed to the client inability to post its usages to the SELECTserver for whatever reason.  The TR mentioned is being worked on to improve the performance when in these situation.
