SELECTserver and Maxsurf Installation and Activation

I am attempting to install and license maxsurf.  I am a "quasi" administrator and i'm having difficulty setting up the server and client. 

here are the steps i have performed:


#1  I downloaded and installed the product on the client computer (an image that i will be installing on multiple computers in a lab)

#2  I downloaded and installed the ieg license service installer on the server

#3  although I can see that the ieg license service program has been installed , it does not show up as a service.

#4  also, i cannot find any trace of files on the server even though it shows up under add/remove programs

#5  i then installed the product on the server and attempted to run the license tool but i receive an error that the file "nolicensetool.exe" cannot be located

#6  from your support site, i requested a new activation key (the server name changed since we originally purchased the software)

#7  The email i received gives instructions for forcing a select server update, but i cannot find nor run the xm client tool or any of the other steps to follow this is a new installation of the program so it is not an upgrade to anything we had before on both the server and client.  two years ago we were using an older version of maxsurf that used a dongle.  both server and client computers are new. 

#8 I would also like to verify that i can copy my image computer to my lab computers without problems.

    A.)The IEG License Service (and all other "Prerequisites" listed on the Maxsurf Download Page) should be installed on the client machine with the product.

    A.)My recommendation would be to start fresh and remove all of the programs. Then begin by first installing SELECTserver 9 on your server, per the link provided above,and activating it with your Serial Number and Server Activation Key.

    B.)Once the SELECTserver is activated, install Maxsurf on the client machine (including all of the prerequisites) and activate it against the SELECTserver application.

    While I believe this should be possible, at current this is not a supported installation method for Bentley software. I will verify this with a Maxsurf Specialist and update this answer upon receiving new information.
