Custom Activation Groups configurations

The functionality of the Custom Activation Group (CAG) is the same as that of the normal SELECTServer. That being that there is no configuration to set the quantity of the application. It is the design of TRUST Licensing. Since TRUST licensing was implemented back in 2006 the SELECTserver application is not real time. Clients are not constantly connected so that type of access restriction by license count is simply not possible. The SELECTserver application does not function that way. Be it that you physically have 1, 100, or unlimited licenses for an Bentley application the SELECTserver application does not configure to allow you to stop usages after a predetermined number. For example you have 10 MicroStation license. You do not have a configuration to say after 5 license have been granted do not allow anymore usages. For that matter you cannot stop the SELECTServer from granting the 11th license if all 10 are in use. It is a reporting device not a restrictive one by design. So with all of that said the short answer is that there is no configuration setting for “Quantity” for the Custom Activation Group or SELECTserver in general.
