Dear All,
Does anyone have experience managing Microstation licenses for other international locations? We were looking to purchase all of our licenses in the US for our international offices. But I'm told by my account rep that Bentley can't sell licenses for out of country use. I'm a bit surprised by this and I'm wonder if they do this for other, perhaps larger accounts.
BTW, If anyone form Bentley is reading this, Microsoft and other software companies allow this.
TIA,
Mike
Mike,
That seems odd to me too. All our licenses are purchased in the US and when I install it, and go to activate it, it asks me in which country the license is to be used. The number of countries to select from is vast (Afghanistan to Zimbabwe). I don't know how viable it is to leverage one license across the world's time zones.
It depends on the type of licence. I believe the Quarterly Licence Subscription allows cross country pooling but I'm not a licensing specialist. Sales should be able to give you definitive advice on this: www.bentley.com/.../Overview.htm
Marc
Marc,
Do you have a Sales contact I could reach out to discuss? I've gone round and round with my current Bentley contacts, they keep telling me the Contracts Dept. won't allow for this. Frankly, I don't believe this.
Regards,
Hi Mike,
The short answer is yes you can purchase licenses for machines which operate in other countries. However, the licenses must be purchased within those countries of operation. Each country will have its own site; as such, licenses cannot be shared between countries. Your account manger will be able to answer any further questions you may have and assist you in making those purchase(s). Thank you.
