Problem

How to manually transmit logs from the SELECTserver Application.

Solution

SELECTserver 09.xx will automatically switch to manual transmission mode if a connection to Bentley cannot be established.

To force earlier versions of SELECTserver to transmit usage logs manually, go to the following page on the SELECTserver administration site:
ADMINISTRATION > SERVER SETTINGS > Usage Log Transmittal. Check the "Transmit application usage logs manually" dialog box and select APPLY.

The following steps must be done from a system with Internet access:

  1. Open the SELECTserver administration site by navigating to the following URL in a browser, replacing "your_server_name" with the computer name of your server:
    http://your_server_name/bss/admin/

If accessing the SELECTserver administration site directly on the server, the following URL can be used instead:
    http://localhost/bss/admin/
  2. Click on Transmit Usage Logs under the Administration section on the left sidebar (SELECTserver 8.x), or select Manual Log Transmittal from the Administration drop-down menu (SELECTserver 9.x).

  3. Follow Step 1: Create File
  4. Follow Step 2: Click Download and save the zip file to your local computer. Do this step for any usage logs that have a No in the Acknowledged column.
  5. Follow Step 3: Transmit Logs to Bentley. Upload the file using the SELECTserver Manual Log Posting page from an Internet-connected computer. Browse to the location where you saved the zip file, and select it. Enter the serial number and server activation key (not to be confused with the site activation key) shown on the Request/Update License page of your SELECTserver. Click the Submit button, and save the returned response file.
  6. Follow Step 4: Process the Acknowledgement File. Browse to directory where you saved the Response file, select it, and click the Submit button.
  7. SELECTserver 9.x users: If a 404 or "maximum request length exceeded" error occurs as shown in the following wiki when processing a response file, please apply the following fix on the license server, and try again.
