The following support solution shows how to restrict access to Bentley's online license server so that only computers from designated offices can communicate with it. This prevents computers outside designated offices from transmitting usage or activating products.

Background

Bentley's online license server, known as Bentley CONNECT SELECTservices (formerly SELECTserver Online), provides a convenient way to license products since any Internet-connected computer with a valid site activation key can use it. However, concerns arise over unauthorized use should a site activation key be compromised. To address these concerns, SELECTserver can be configured to allow or deny connections from a defined list of IP addresses.

Steps to Accomplish

Perform the following steps from an authorized office location:

If your company has multiple offices or home offices that you intend to authorize, add the external IP addresses for each of them to permit access.

Important: If Bentley is hosting products for you in the cloud such as ProjectWise Design Integration or i-model Composition Server, rules must be added to keep them activated. To obtain the public IP addresses, please refer to the ProjectWise Hosted Reference document provided to you. Otherwise, please contact the Managed Services team by filing a help request using the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the CONNECTION Center portal.
  2. Under the My Support heading at the bottom, click on the New Service Request tile.
  3. The Service Request Manager should ask whether the issue is for a Managed Service. Please answer Yes.
