By default, the Bentley SELECTserver Gateway service is configured to run as the local system user. However, the security policy of the network may prevent the local system user from accessing the Internet. This can pose a problem if the SELECTserver Gateway is configured to use Bentley's hosted SELECTserver on the Internet (i.e. selectserver.bentley.com).
Domain users are more likely to have Internet access than the local system user. To troubleshoot access issues, configure the Bentley SELECTserver Gateway service to run as a domain user with the following instructions:
Best Practice: Specify a domain user with a non-expiring password, usually a service account. Otherwise, the credentials used by the SELECTserver Gateway service will require updates any time the password is changed to keep the service running.
