MicroStation CONNECT Edition 2D Basics
Video demonstrations are a great source of learning. With the help of videos, Sam Hendrick has created a Master Class on the 2D Basics of MicroStation CONNECT Edition. The different videos explaining various operations are listed below.
01 - Creating a New File, Intro to UI and Saving Your Work
In this 2D training video series, we'll be covering the very basics of MicroStation CONNECT Edition operations. We start in this video with launching the software, how to create a file using seed files, a quick tour of the user interface and workflow and how to save your work (or whether you actually need to!) plus other general beginner topics.

02 - Workflow, Ribbon, Tools, Settings and More
Continuing with this introductory series, In the second video, we introduce workflows and how they affect the ribbon interface, how the tools are organized in the ribbon, tool settings window, status bar, element selection methods and a quick look at the user preferences via MicroStation's backstage
03 - Graphical Input via Mouse & Keyboard
In this video, we cover both the basics of graphical input and provide some great tips for efficient graphics manipulation. Although not difficult, it is important to master MicroStation's graphical input using a combination of mouse clicks (all three buttons) and keyboard keys, especially when working within a complex design containing potentially hundreds of elements on-screen at any given time.
04 - Viewing your Design & How to Manipulate Levels
In this video, we cover the important view navigation functions such as zooming in and zooming out, how to fit views. We also address questions such as "How many views can I have open?" and "How do I arrange open views?" among others. Finally, as the +One in the video, we disclose how you can quickly turn a level off.
05 - Element Creation with AccuDraw & Element Attributes
In this video, you'll learn how to place basic elements. However, the best part of this video is the introduction to AccuDraw, the design aid that makes MicroStation the very productive design system it is. Finally, you'll learn the basics of manipulating element attributes. The +One shows you how to quickly match element attributes in mid element creation.
06 - Element Manipulation using a variety of tools.
In this video, you'll learn how to manipulate elements in your design using a variety of tools including Copy Element, Rotate Element, Copy Parallel ("Offset" to you AutoCAD users) and Stretch Element. The plus-one this time will show you how to use the Copy Parallel tool to copy only a portion of the target element.
07 - Element Modification Tools
In this video, you'll learn how to modify elements rather than manipulate as was covered in the previous video. Specifically, you learn how to use the Modify Element, Change Element Attributes and Trim Multiple tools to modify the look and geometry of individual or several elements at once.
