MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3) has been released. When you download and install it, you will notice some changes with previous versions of MicroStation V8i.
Here are some technical points of note:
The installer has been changed considerably and now directly incorporates the prerequisites. Similar to other products (i.e. Bentley View), you no longer need a separate download and install of the Bentley Desktop Prerequisites -- the installer checks for what it needs and retrieves it from the web directly.
Also of note, there is now an "Optional Post Install Components" section in the installer. This lists an optional install for "Visualization Content", which includes a library for the new Traffic Simulation animation tools as well as the new populate content tools. This is optional, so if you do not use the visualization (Rendering/Animation) tools, you do not need to install it.
Within the Product Activation wizard you is a new dialog referring to the "Bentley's Continuous Improvement Program". You can read the information on the dialog carefully and make the desired selection -- information regarding this program is provided here.
The Dynamic Views workflow has changed and is documented in Help > Contents > Composing Drawings > Drawing Composition > Dynamic Views
The Archiver utility was removed from the menu -- go here for more information regarding this.
StartPoint was removed.
