The concept of better performance has always been a prime motive for us at MicroStation, giving our users a better performance with every subsequent update. With the recent development in the Element Properties Dialog, users will now experience higher productivity when using larger datasets with maximum number of elements.
This blog elaborates the study conducted for the Element Properties Dialog which shows significant enhancement in performance of MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13 over Update 12. With improved fixes, update 13 helps in reducing the time required to open the Properties Dialog pop-up.
Following are the specifications that were used for the test.
We have made use of both MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 12 and Update 13 respectively.

We repeated the test 5-6 times for each dataset and the average loading time was considered to plot the graph below. The dataset used for the tests include a large variety of properties for every element to yield higher output. For example, the dataset for Model with Item types has 4421 elements which includes 364 I-beams, 826 Nuts and bolts with a file size of 7.50 MB. This study clearly aims to educate our users on the Properties dialog pop-up loading time in both Update 12 and Update 13.

It is observed that in the Building Model 1 and IFC File dataset, the time taken was substantially less showing a difference. MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13 shows better results as compared to Update 12. The advantage of Update 13 now comes up when the elements properties increase in the Building Model and Plant Model Dataset.
These tests were performed specifically for time required to execute Element Properties Dialog pop-up in MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 12 and in Update 13.
