Creating references by using saved views is a very commonly used method of reference attachment. But have you come across a situation wherein you needed to detach and again attach the saved view in order to update the reference with the saved view’s modifications? Here is the option which makes this very easy, automatic, and avoids those unnecessary steps. This option is called “Synchronize View”.
I just start working with Multi-Lines to indicate axis for a group of pipelines, and for that purpose after getting ready my Multi-Line Styles I proceed to make the routes over an object already on my design. When I remove that SmartLine or object the multilines that previusly place over that object become dashed. I asume it's because the Association check when I was making the form with Multi-Line.
There is anyway…
Drawing titles act as labels for drawings on sheets. Each drawing that is placed on a sheet is supposed to be labeled with a drawing title. While using the Place Drawing Title tool on drawing sheets, you must have noticed the outline that highlights the extent of referred models. These borders serve as visual cue to distinguish the different models that have been attached to the sheet.
Imagine a scenario wherein multiple…
There have been following updates to Element Information dialog in MicroStation SS3:
The detail view in MicroStation has evolved over a period of time. There have been many useful changes in the behavior of detail callouts and detail views since MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 2). With feedback from users, some more changes have been implemented in the MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3) Update 1. This document explains the evolution of detail callouts from MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 2) release to MicroStation…
How do i import a legacy schematic drawing generated in Smart Plant P&Id into Microstation so that we can work on this file?. We don't have issues with Autocad files as Microstation has the tool to convert from DWG to DGN. How about Smart Plant P&Id files?
is it possible to store font rsc.files in a dgnlib?
If so, how is it done?
When you want to flip the element (Not view) along a plane, Autocad offers 3D rotate option. Where you enter 3D rotate on command line, asks for element of interest-select and entre, then asks for the plane-select 2 points along plane line,
Select angle<+ or - 90 for instance. This kind of rotation does not rotate elements clockwise or anticlockwise but flips element in the Z so that they appear as a single line unless…
Greetings of the day,
I m new to the microststion v8i programing. In previously we are using bentley map selectseries1. Now upgraded to select series3. In new version i m unable to find the definetion for "GDIExplorerAddIn.instance.oraclenode" and "treeform". But in the previous version those are available. while using latest version i got the following error.

Now that you can assign a reference file as a sheet border, you might find that your existing sheet borders are somehow not compatible with this feature. This manifests itself by moving the sheet border to some strange location if you attempt to select a border reference in the Models Properties dialog box. This post will reveal all of the secrets.
If you have used any InRoads tool that tries to use a reference sheet…
I am trying to combine all of my DGNLIB files into one DGNLIB and use Named Expressions to switch from interface to interface. From an article in AskInga, she explains how a person can switch from an interface to interface using Named Expressions. I was able to get the task part to work and the context menu part to work. I also added over all of my MenuBar items becasue they have different commands. etc. The only issue I…
my MDL application not working on V8i Version, It is working on XM version,
Drawings and sheets containing references to dynamic views are updated immediately when model geometry is changed (hence the name dynamic views). However, there are times when a project’s construction set needs to be frozen for a certain revision while the underlying model is still evolving. This can be achieved by switching the references from Dynamic mode to Cached mode. As the name suggests, Cached mode…
Can any help me please, I have created a 3d mesh and now I have to place the 2d line work onto it following the mesh outline.
Here’s some simple VB code to help automate drawing and sheet creation using Drawing Seeds. The standard settings for drawings and sheets are all defined in drawing seeds, and your model extents are defined in an Excel spreadsheet.
MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3) introduces two new properties to classify Dynamic Views and Drawings - Discipline and Purpose. For a large, multi-discipline infrastructure project, it is conceivable for you to have 100’s if not 1000’s of Dynamic Views and Drawings. In this scenario, Discipline and Purpose properties allow that additional layer of granularity to help you filter the Dynamic Views and Drawings…
I'm running MS SS2 32bit application, now my pc is a 64 bit OS with 8gig RAM, GeForce 530 graphics card, i7 3.4ghz processor. This is all great, but my MS is still a 32bit application.
Is there a 64bit? Will there be one, if so, when?
Gone are the days when in a design model you could just view a model geometry and had to traverse to the sheet and drawing models each time you want to view the dimensions, annotations and other details. Now with hypermodels, you can place callouts in 3D design model and also view sheet graphics in a 3D design model, in place, automatically. This makes drawings easier to understand and interpret.
The general workflow…
The process of creating drawings and sheets is a complex operation since it involves several subsystems. The outcome is effectively a chain of objects as follows: Clip Volume > Saved View > Drawing Model > Reference Attachment in Drawing Model > Sheet Model > Reference Attachment in Sheet Model > Drawing Title.
The following poster describes these objects and their relationships.
In order to…
A Mini toolbar is a type of context menu that is automatically shown when you hold the cursor over a marker or a callout. The Mini toolbar provides easy access to most used tools without requiring to right-click.
When you hold the cursor over a marker or a callout, the Mini toolbar appears semi-transparent. Then if you point on the Mini toolbar it becomes solid and you can select an icon on it.
In MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3), a very useful feature called Markers is included. Many times saved views, links, and mark-ups become difficult to identify in a model with complex geometry and many annotations. To make these items more recognizable, Markers are displayed wherever saved views, links, or markups are placed.
A Marker is basically a transient icon that stands out of the normal geometry in a model and…
I am very new to Microstation and I feel like I've been thrown into the deep end before being allowed to learn to doggie paddle.
I've been given a 13-year old drawing set done in Microstation and I am trying to figure out if there is an easy way to reconnect it all to make it legible and eventually make changes to it. The References were not attached using relative paths
I've queried this site about changing…
