Can't run VBA anymore

I'm running SS3.  I have some macros that I have been using for a long time.  Suddenly, none of them will open.  The error message "VBA interface error:  failed creating the application object - 0x80040562" comes up.  I haven't changed anything regarding my installation.

  • Hi John,

I'm one of the developers on the VBA team and hopefully I can help you. A few questions.

    1) Have you installed any of the Connect Edition EAPs? (Even if you have uninstalled them.... knowing if they were on the system would be useful).

    2) Would it be possible to share one of your error prone macros and outline the process you go through to get them loaded? If you'd rather not post them here, you can email them to me privately at Chris.Tartamella@Bentley.com.
  • Chris - I am in the EAP group and have installed all of the versions. EAP5 is currently installed.

As I noted (our replies where nearly simultaneous) I ran a repair on the SS3 installation and now the VBA work. I have 2 of them called by function keys (vba load vbaname). These are old utilities including setz and measure3d that I have been using for years.
  • I think its linked to installing EAP5 as your issue seems to be the same as mine(and others), there's a thread on the CONNECT forum discussing this, to know conclusion so far.

My issue = the day I installed EAP5, all VBAs in SS3 wouldn't load (same error John Cannon has mentioned above). None of the VBAs were ever opened in EAP5 and I'm told that the VB versions are unconnected between SS3 and EAP5 but this is too much of a coincidence. Luckily I only installed EAP5 on one machine, the workaround for me was to uninstall all bentley programs and reinstall SS3, it would be great if someone could look into this further. If you would like me to give more information, please let me know what I should provide.
    Thanks everyone
