Hello All,
I work most of the time with DWG files using Microstation (AECOsim BD V8i (select series 4) Vers 8.11.9.593) and was wondering if there is a way to delete unused line styles from a DWG file. There appears to be a problem with Autocad 2013 and 2014 in that DGN line styles accumulate and bloat DWG files, so much so that Autodesk have a hot-fix to compress the affected files:

My question is whether there is a way in Microstation (AECOsim BD V8i (select series 4) Vers 8.11.9.593) to compress DWG files in a similar way. Ticking 'delete unused line styles' in the compress design options does not appear to affect these line styles. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Lincoln
Hi Henk,
Thanks for responding. I will attach a zipped DWG file with no elements in it, and that I have compressed twice. If you go into the 'Custom Line Style' dialog you can see the many line styles there. I don't know how to delete them from here.

How you doing Don?
Thanks for the reply. I have used the purge DGN line styles hot fix in Autocad on the same file and it has reduced the size by 23.6mb. Would you know what it is doing and what it is removing from the DWG file? My OCD is showing, but it would be good to know. It would be even better to be able to do it in MIcrostation AECOsim.Thanks.

Well, the file you have uploaded does not have any DGN line styles I have previously talked about. It only has all traditional ACAD line types and from xRef's. Perhaps this file is a file after being purged in ACAD? That would make sense, because the file size is about 24MB, close to the reduced size you said.
