Arial Font Symbols

I need to be able to use the Arial Font to meet client cad standard.  When I use this I do not have access to some of the special symbols that I frequently use (BL CL +- Delta...)  When I click on the Symbol list these are not available as options.  Is there a way I can add these symbols to the list so that I can meet my clients requirements without having to manually place the symbols separately as cells?

    The majority of the project is being completed by another department within our company that uses AutoCAD. In AutoCAD they use the Symbol drop down and select the symbol they want. If the symbol they select is not part of the Arial font it will insert the symbol as a different font and then switch back to Arial. So all of the text is one block but the symbol is a different font from the rest. My goal is to produce my section of the plans with microstation and be able to insert into their plans with as little difference as possible. I don't know enough about AutoCAD to get much more specific than that. I would like to get it fixed because this will likely be a common occurrence and not a one time thing where work arounds will suffice.

    You can (and probably should for compatibility reasons) do the same in MicroStation as your ACAD users do. In the text editor you can insert a symbol into the text body. If the symbol does not exist in Arial, you can switch to a different font and use the symbol from that font. Then you can switch the font back to Arial.

    That seems to be the answer. Does anyone know if there is a way to make a shortcut for this? I tried adding it to my favorites list, but I still have to manually switch to the font that it came from for it to work. For instance I saved the centerline symbol to my favorites from the Lucida Sans Unicode Font. When I switch to arial and choose to insert the centerline symbol I get an empty box unless I manually switch to Lucida Sans Unicode again.

    I guess what I am hoping for is a list of symbols that when selected for insertion it pulls the symbol from whatever font it needs to pull it from to get inserted properly without memorizing which font I need to go to for which symbols. Thanks.

    A good suggestion and it seems to have been implemented in next release. If you are beta testing Early Access Program you should check it out - it appears to do exactly what you are asking for.

    you could make a script or vba macro added to a F key that would set the font and  symbol mid text or just place it and then you  copy paste it into your text editor

    I found it easier to do it in word file ( you can run that from te keyin window too)  and copy paste it or have a standard reference file with these symbols you can then attach ref with a function key and merge or copy paste if you merge then you dont have to detach  later and all can be done with a clever script keying and run from function key..

    That worked perfectly. We found that the romans font had all of the symbols that we needed so I set up a function key to switch to romans font and another to switch to arial. Much simpler than having to search through the list of fonts every time I wanted to put a symbol in. Thank you so much. I didn't even think of doing that.
