Ctrl+click does not equal Power Selector mode add

I am having troubles with my Ctrl+Click command in SS3.

1. Ctrl+Click does not give me the power selector mode add

2. Ctrl+Click is set to undefined in my button assignments

3. When I hard code in my Ctrl+Click to equal PS mode add, it does not work.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I have been Ctrl+Clicking for about 10 years now and its not something I would like to give up. After going through the archives I believe I found many people with the exact opposite problem as me.

  • I cant  duplicate your issue..

Meanwhile  in the power selector tool pallet  try using the  plus sign  its the same as  the control data feature

the keyin you could remap to button is

    powerselector mode add

it works with F key so it  should work if you reassigned it by hand in the mouse menu..

Why it stopped working I dont  know..

you 'll have to  put it back to unselect or  set a function key to do the unselect... else it stays in selection mode of add...

  • Thanks for the suggestion but I really do have this Ctrl+Click hard wired into my brain.

Also, I guess I didn't make it clear enough (sorry) but when I use the key in for that command, I just get an "unknown command error"
As well as, when I create a new user, project and interface.... still no work-y
And... when I re-load my UCF and UPF files that have been the same since I went to SS2, it still doesn't work.

This is really frustrating because I have been using Ctrl+Click for almost 9 years.

Do you happen to know where the line is for this in my config file?

you did try to type the command  keyin below  into the keyin browser

    powerselector mode add

this works here for me  perfect... even remapped to side button on my mouse it worked..

This is the only way  I can do it without control + LMB data ... needless to say my control + RMB Data works...

Try replacing your workspace. cfg and  upf with a co worker in your team ( make backups first) ... does anyone else have the same issue...

If still dont work then I think maybe your microstation is broken.. and needs complete removal and reinstall .... you may be able to reuse colleagues   upf and workspace config and rename them then reset up your workspace prefs etc by hand... a bother but not to painful.

  • I'm not sure if this will help, but I think the Element Selection tool must be active and the mode set to Single and New.

The keyin to get Element Selection activated is - CHOOSE ELEMENT   or     CHOOSE NONE

The keyin to set the modes are - POWERSELECTOR SINGLE    and     POWERSELECTOR MODE NEW

Then I think the Ctrl-Click will work, at least it does for me.

  • so after thinking about my issue a little bit more I feel like I need to add in that I am running SS3 on a laptop. could that be my problem?
  • no difference on my laptop...

    control Data works!

Try going through all your  preferences and a do a screen capt for all your  settings an post pix here and we can compare or

you compare  it with matching and config against one that is working  with Control LMB click...

best I can offer.... without screen sharing via skype....
