CADWorx Object Enabler

I am unable to see the full piping createdin CADWorx 2015 in a dwg file referenced in MicroStation Connect even after reloading the Object Enabler.

  • I'm not quite sure what you meant by reloading the object enabler, but I will assume that you had a CADWorx object enabler 2016 x64, you had tried to install it on your box, and the installation appeared to have gone through without any error. If my assumption is correct, you might have an AutoCAD 2016 based product on your box and CADWorx simply installed it on that product but not on MicroStation CONNECT. Ideally, CADWorx installer should look for all RealDWG hosts, not just AutoCAD, and add required registries for all hosts. I realize that may not be possible in a timely manner. If you are adventurous enough and you know how to edit your computer's registries, you can try finding the CADWorx key in your registry. It is probably somewhere under \Autodesk\ObjecDBX\. After you find the key, copy it to the correspondent location under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bentley\ObjectDBX\. If done correctly, it will tell CONNECT to load your OE. However, changing computer registry is not something I'd recommend to everyone - it can potentially mess things up and damage your system if you do not know what you are doing. So be extra careful with doing that.

  • Don,
I had the Object enabler loaded previous to loading MicroStation Connect. The piping showed up in v8i, but not in Connect. I unloaded the OE and reloaded it. Piping still shows up in V8i, but not in Connect. Some OEs, when loading, list different applications to apply the OE to, CADWorx does not it simply installs and done.

  • CONNECT uses RealDWG 2016 therefore a matching object enabler is expected(i.e. 2016). The post I referenced suggests that CADWorx 2016 is scheduled to be released in Q4-2015, so I was hoping maybe you can wait for a month or two so you can download and install the matching OE.

There is another post at the same website talked about making CADWorx 2015 to run on ACAD 2016. IF this claim is true, it should also run on RealDWG 2016 (a big IF though). The only difference is that instead of adding CADWorx registries for ACAD, add them for RealDWG2016 under CONNECT. But again, changing registry is not generally recommended.

  • I see. I don't however see RealDWG loaded in Control Panel or in KACE. I have RealDWG 2014 loaded and AutoCAD 2014 is what the piping drawings are done in with CADWorx 2015.

  • RealDWG 2016 is part of CONNECT and is the only supported release. That is why you did not see it under the control panel. RealDWG 2014 is a standalone program that is separately installed which can only be loaded into SS3/4 Power Products.

  • I see. So it may be a conflict between the RealDWG 2016 and the CADWorx 2015 OE. I assume since RealDWG is builtin to Connect that we will get a new release each year to keep up with the RealDWG?
Don, on another subject. We spoke several years ago about the saveas DWG and how it was scaling the (AutoCAD) linestyles incorrectly. I think it was scaling them by master units instead of sub units, but I can't be sure. A trouble report was put in on it by you. Was this fixed in the new version?

  • Is this linestyle remapping issue you are referring to?

It should have been fixed in CONNECT. You can verify that.
