Hello,
I'm receiving more and more KML files. While they open up in Google Earth and look cool, I can't print them to scale, and can't do much with them.
Does CONNECT support the import of KML files to a dgn? I checked the help and could only find export information.
Thanks,
Tom F.

Unknown said:Hi Keith, Generally, I was fine with the KMLs in Google Earth only, but, I'm starting to get boring locations and aerial mapping coverage as KMLs. While GE is fine for displaying these items and their general location, in the case of boring locations, I need exact coordinates. Also, as far as I know, there's no way to print a GE image to scale. I would like to be able to import a KML to a dgn and print to scale. Thanks,Tom F.
Can you ask the geotech provider to give you the borelog table in txt or atleast pdf? ( might be in WGS84 with cheap gps units hand held not too accurate)
That has the geo coords which you can use to remap in msnt via import coords xyz tool even if they are in long lat you can ref attach and reproject later into northings and easting in a different base file...some times in the geoteck report I only got it as pdf but each bore site was listing its geo coords , so I just place cells by the xy coords ...
I've had trouble with google earth images too as they use a datum not in mstn list of datums, there was an approximation that could be used but it was no accurate enough for survey .. it was 1 to 2 meters out but for large scale paper mapping it was pretty good... but for me some buildings end up in next doors cadastre boundary... If I could find known points I could warp the rasters but again only good for large scale mapping...

For now, if you can get the borehole locations as XYZ comma delimited that would simplify matters.
I don't think any Google imagery is accurate for survey. We do support the GCS used by Google and other. EPSG:900913.
