When I save from DWG to DGN it moves the text outside the dim lines.
I’m unclear if this is a textstyle issue or dim style issue (since dim styles get their text from textstyles).
Opening the DWG in V8i (08.11.09.357) shows this (correct)
When I do File-SaveAs V8 format (incorrect)
my screenshots didn't make it into my post - attached is the Word doc showing the issue.
I suggest you repost this in the File Formats forum

You are much more likely to get your answers there.
George,
Dwg is autocad 2000, MSta is 08.11.09.357
The text size is the same, my screen captures are not same scale. it looked correct until I SaveAs DGN then it jumped outside of the dim lines.

Any chance of you posting a small sample so we can investigate. Without the test sample we are really guessing. To attach samples just go to the Advanced Reply Editor. You can zip both the sample Dgn and DWG files. ACAD 2000 is pretty old.

dimExample.dwgI am unable to provide the whole file as it contains sensitive data. However, I can provide the part of the dimension in a Dgn.

Why not just ref attach the DWG into DGN .. see what it look like if upon merging the DWG file causes a problem... then undo and leave it ref attached and use level manager to change colours to suit msnt you can use Real colours if you cant match iva colour numbers ...this usually works for me....

try and open the dwg with microstation , look at the message centre, you may have a font substitution issue,
If you have access to autocad or true view try and find out what the font name is .. then it might just be a case of the right font... this has happened to me ta client used and old isoXXXB font and microstation didnt have it... but I found a closer match eventually on the net and and it worked better text didnt spill out over the title block...
Also the dims outside doesnt that usually mean the text wont fit inside the dim leaders but it did in acad so it would appear the text using fonts available to mstn must be fatter and take up more room...
Unknown said:Thanks Lorys. We have about 200 DWG files coming in each month - we need to save to DGN without changing the dimensions.Once a solution is found, we can batch convert.
just out of curiosity did you try the merge to see if it worked?
FY I during convert are you letting mstn export any non supported acad fonts into the same folder the DGNs out put live in..., you may needed to move those to the font rsc folder later to view the dgns...clutching at straws here but it might lead to something...
