V8i GeoTIFF Georeferencing, Export and Reprojection

Hello,

I'm trying to export warped TIFFs as GeoTiffs in SELECTseries1 and need help with the geocoding configurations. So far I've been georeferencing these in the dgn's native NAD83 coordinate system, exporting them, and then re-importing successfully with an uninherited GCS, but now I'm in need of georeferencing files with coordinates in NAD1927 and permanently converting those to align with the other NAD83 GeoTiffs.

I set a separate dgn's master coordinate system to NAD1927 and referenced the rasters normally — at this point there is nothing assigned and the geocoding properties show <none> as expected. Before exporting, in my workspace preferences I set the following configs:

*toggle Use Unit Definition Geokey if Present (override PCS unit); *set GeoPriority = File; * Inherit GeoCS from Model = Not Inherited

Then I select *GeoTiff and set *Resampled = Yes and GeoCoding to *Take GeoCS From: Name Specified > NAD83(HARN)

Now I was under the impression that this is all that is required to have a GeoTiff with an independant datum stored in it's raster header (since it's a GeoTiff and doesn't need a sister file), and I can clearly see that the raster shifts over in the target (NAD27) dgn to it's proper NAD83 destination location. But when I try to re-import that into a NAD83 dgn, the raster shifts with it and is incorrectly projected as it was in the target.

My work-around was to wait until I had warped a few TIFFs and then reproject the entire design file into my destination CS, which takes all of the rasters with it. However, this is just a reprojection and doesn't permanently rewrite the GCS if I export it as a GeoTiff in this setup — even if I set it to be resampled. Now the really strange thing is that all of my GeoTiffs exported natively in the NAD83 dgn are able to be imported into the NAD27 dgn and individually reprojected to NAD27 and saved permanently as such, but it doesn't recognize it the other way around.

Side note: I have 60,000 of these to make. Any way I can do any of what I need to above in a batch export/conversion?

  • First I think you need to let cad create the sister files in the  projection of choice  this maybe able to be done in batch process, then move all the original rasters to a folder and store them with the new  sister files in the projection of choice...

    Now you should be able to  bulk attach the rasters using the sister files and then tell cad to convert all the rasters to GEOTiff...

    otherwise  get GIS person to do it  in map info or Esri....

    There are Free tools around  google GDAL, its   pretty tricky to set up  uses python and  a bunch of scripts , but one script I have used was to redifine  or reproject  tiles to a new datum and  join all neighbouring tiles into one ECW  geo refed no sister file  and one tile nowdays loads pretty quick, twenty  years ago we had to do lots of tiles  because video card and pc ram couldnt handle it...  I  regularly load a 6 gb airphoto raster  300mm resolution in just 2 -3 seconds over a network and yes msnt  did cache it but it still loaded damn fast...

    also google tile or raster stitcher I used a free one ages ago sorry dont have it any more
