Hello i received big size file ( not so big in fact i had my larger many times )
File is done in Autocad propably 2014 . And its very, very slow to open.
In Ms V8 is not so good but "ok", few minutes... but in Connect about 20 - 30 minutes.
I try save as dgn, make cleanup, compress but after - file is about 100 mb bigger than orginal dwg
Can someone check what is wrong with this geometry ( file is for download here ) for a week https://wetransfer.com/downloads/190bbb5ad8840203b6c2a5bdf086a89520170302070518/050a83cc78a10ab3875290eebdf58d4720170302070518/9dec05
Hi Don,

It would be great, also to know all pros and cons can be interesting.
What I see as quite big problem in the current workflow, when B-reps are converted during the file opening as you described at this thread, is that it's used also for DWG referencing ... at least it seems to me from quick testing, where the file shared by martinezx always crashed MicroStation because of lack of memory (seems 16Gb is not enough) after very long time doing something regardless it was opened directly or referenced.
What I know from my customers they often receive updates from external people and companies daily. To insert new DWG > DGN conversion step there to solve the problem DWG files are opened substantially longer because they are processed in a different way, is probably not possible.
With regards,
Jan

Don - is not possible to bring back this how v8 open the dwg files ? Btw i'm not sure is this good topic but with my files i see other problem with CONNECT I mean that saved views save only part of view - when i update / refresh view - most of geometry disappears , docked windows like camera settings after few times also disappears or are blank....
Maybe there are many bugs in CONNECT 46 ?
Parasolid a Brep modeler that is used by 3D modeling products. An easy way to tell is SmartSolid (or SmartSurface) - it is an element that contains Brep topology and geometry, and is handled by a Brep modeler. Whenever you make a change to such an element, it is the Brep modeler that does the most work behind the scene.
