Hi,
I would like to import extended data (metadata associated to AutoCAD objects) created in AutoCAD Civil 3D to Microstation V8i.
Has anyone done it before? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jerome
Unless you intentionally skip XDATA (i.e. having MS_DWG_SKIP_XDATA set in your project), you should have them as linkages on the elements. You can check that with keyin "analyze element", pick an element you know for sure should have XDATA attached, look under Attributes panel for "Extended Entity Data".
I already checked and the data does not appear in the extended window. I also exported the dgw to ifc and imported it in microstation but no luck.
Can you upload a test DWG file?
In case I was not clear - the keyin "analyze element" should bring up a window that looks like below, with the Attribute panel showing all linkages, among which XDATA should also be listed:
Or maybe by extended data you meant properties on a C3D object like this:
If so, you need to install a C3D object enabler that is the same version that matches the version of RealDWG running on your installation of MicroStation V8i. Key in "version" while you have a DWG file open to find exactly which version of RealDWG is in effect. Go to Autodesk website then download C3D OE for Windows x32 and for the version of RealDWG you have.
