I can open some .dwg files but not all. I get the following error msg when i try to open them "Unable to locate and open seed file required to open this file. Check the MSTRASNSEED configuration variable."
Cat get it to work, and its frustrating. Im thinking about installing AutoCAD and hope that this might solve the problem. Non of the collegues at work have had a similar problem. But im the only one that have made a fresh installation of V8i and i did not have any previous versions of microstation on my computer.

Are you using the same workspace (i.e. configuration) for the files that are not opening as the ones that are? If not, then it might be worth debugging your configuration to see if the seed file being referenced exists and that you have access to it. Otherwise, could you provide one of the files that you are unable to open (attach it to a reply by clicking on the Options tab).
Thanks for the quick reply.
It seams like a made a mistake in my post. I cant open any dwg-files (i noticed that this morning). However i dont know what "version of AutoCADwas used when creating those dwg ... or if they where created using Microstation.

Phil,
I am experiencing the same issue when opening dwg's or converting dgn to dwg.
the following error is reported in message center:-
Unable to open seed file: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Bentley\Workspace\system\seed\transeed.dgn Unable to locate and open seed file required to open this file. Check the MS_TRANSEED configuration variable. Invalid seed file Seed file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Bentley\Workspace\system\seed\transeed.dgn appears invalid.
I am running a networked configuration. The strange thing is that my MS_TRANSEED points to F:\YMStandards\Workspace\system\seed\transeed.dgn (MS_TRANSEED = $(_USTN_SYSTEMROOT)seed/transeed.dgn) and that the location referred to in the error is a XP location and I am running vista.
If I run microstation locally there is no problem. I have attached my standards and project file plus the file I have most recently been trying to convert, though should you need any further files please say..
Regards
Duncan
