I can open some .dwg files but not all. I get the following error msg when i try to open them "Unable to locate and open seed file required to open this file. Check the MSTRASNSEED configuration variable."
Cat get it to work, and its frustrating. Im thinking about installing AutoCAD and hope that this might solve the problem. Non of the collegues at work have had a similar problem. But im the only one that have made a fresh installation of V8i and i did not have any previous versions of microstation on my computer.
regards
Duncan,
Can you check this in your DWG Open Options dialog box. Click on the value listed at "DGN Seed File:" to find exactly which seed file is used. Then try manually open this DGN file from the same Vista box you have trouble with opening DWG. If you can manually open that DGN file but not DWG file using it, please post this seed file.
Thanks,
Don
Don,
I tried what you suggested.Seed file opens fine, still no luck with dwg though. seed file attached
Duncan
We have failed to reproduce your scenario of accessing seed file on an XP server from V8i on a Vista box. There is nothing in your project file that directly affects ms_transeed. Your standard.cfg causes a downloaded failure. Where did DWG Open Options dialog box find the transeed.dgn you have posted(F:\YMStandards\Workspace\system\seed\transeed.dgn or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Bentley\Workspace\system\seed\transeed.dgn)? Do you happen to have MS_TRANSEED_OVERRIDE set such that what's shown in DWG Open Options may not ncessarily be the one taking place? What happens if you select a different file via DWG Open Options dialog box (ie. from another network drive, a local drive, etc, assuming you do not have the override config var set)?
