We will shortly be reciving a revit model of a large housing complex from another firm of architects as we are now taking over the job for the detailing/production information stages. The model is simply the base model with no construction detail. We have AECOsim SS6. I have requested the model in ifc format.
Will this readily import into AECOsim in ifc form to enable us to take plans, sections and elevations from the model?
Should we ask for the model in a different format or is ifc the way to go?
I just want to be prepared for the file arriving so I know what to expect!
Many thanks in advance
Keith
If you can get them to use Bentleys imodel plugin (free for Revit) then they can give you an imodel that you can just reference in to AECOsim
https://www.bentley.com/en/products/product-line/building-design-software/i-model-plugin-for-revit
If you want to edit the data in AECOsm then you need the IFC file. I would also request a DWG file of the same data, this would be to compare models to make sure nothing is missing. Another software would be Solibri model reviewer. This can review the IFC file so see if there are any missing items etc.
If you want to simply review the data and so not need to edit anything, then as Duncan mentioned, get them to export the revit model to i-model

Thanks Duncan, I will speak to them on Monday about the imodel. I take it we would have to send them a link to the Bentley site to download the plug in or will Revit have that facility built in?
