Chinese fonts not showing

I have a dwg file with chinese characters in it. When opened in AutoCAD 18. I get this

In Connect R10 I get this

The file uses 2 shx fonts gbtxt.shx and gbhzfs.shx which are in my fonts folder and pointed to by MS_DWGFONTPATH and MS_FONTPATH. There are no error messages about missing fonts when opening the file. I did have to convert the text to MTEXT in AutoCAD to get it to show there.

Anyone any ideas?

I have had some discussions with my colleagues in Asia who have advised that for these Chinese characters to display correctly there are 3 options that would need to be looked at.

    1. In the 'mslocale.cfg' file if you could remove the '#' at the beginning of this line it will make it active in MicroStation.

    # MS_RTCONFIG = SimpChinese

This file is located in the following folder in CONNECT Edition.

    C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\MicroStation\config\system\

    1. Go to the > Control Panel >  Region > Administrative tab and click on Change System Locale icon to change the current language for non-Unicode programs to Chinese (Simplified, China). Click on OK to restart PC to save settings.

    3. They noticed that some of the Chinese characters still displaying question marks are using the text style 'TBHZ'. When they opened this in the Text Style dialog they noticed that under the Advanced Tab the Shx Big Font was blank. If they also changed this to use the 'hzdx' font the text would also change to use Chinese characters. I am thinking that this, and other, Text Styles are using another Chinese SHX font that you did not supply to me so may display correctly.
